1895 – The winter weather was so severe that on the 9th February a temperature of 26 degrees below freezing was recorded in Middlesbrough’s Albert park. The River Tees was frozen over between Stockton and Worsall, while parts of Teesdale had snowdrifts up to 20 feet deep.
